49th Meeting

I pretty much enjoyed the salon-style discussion we had this afternoon. We started with Joshua's question about 'misconceptions on China-South Korea and China-North Korea relations', and covered various aspects of Korea-China relations, such as historical background, the diplomatic relations during the President Park Geun-hye's term, and South Korean people's response to the rise of China as the regional hegemon. Then we tried to compare China-Korea relations to China-Australia relations relating it the middle power discourse. Overall, I think it was a good combination of language practice and contents learning. <100>

I think it was a good discussion too! Along with everything 백선생님 mentioned, we also spoke a little about how ordinary people in SK think about China and NK, including how they feel about reunification. Towards the end, we even discussed nationalism and what things like 'culture' and 'nation' mean. <Aditi>
